Mori Hamada & Matsumoto was ranked the No. 1 Law Firm in Japan in the special feature article titled "Business Lawyer Rankings 2009" in the June 29 edition of the Japanese-language Nikkei Business Journal.
Harumichi Uchida, Takashi Miyatani, Minoru Sawaguchi and Ryota Miura were ranked joint 7th in Japan in the overall lawyers ranking.
Minoru Sawaguchi was ranked No. 5 in the compliance practice area. Yoshio Iteya was ranked No. 2 in the international and foreign affairs practice area. Gaku Ishiwata was ranked No. 5 in the M&A, corporate restructuring and takeover defense measures practice area. Yutaka Miyoshi was ranked No. 3 in the intellectual property and patent practice area. Kenji Ito was ranked No. 5 in the antitrust practice area.
In addition, Gaku Ishiwata was ranked No. 1 and Satoko Kuwabara was ranked No. 3 in the rankings for lawyers selected by investment banks and funds.
