Message from Mr. Iwahara

I am honored to serve as an adviser to Mori Hamada & Matsumoto from July 1, 2017.

I’ve been involved in education and research concerning the Commercial Code and, in particular, the Companies Act, financial law, the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, the Insurance Act, payment law, and other laws at The University of Tokyo for 38 years and at Waseda University for the past four years.  In taking on the role of advisor, I would like to assist our clients in their business practices by providing legal support to Mori Hamada & Matsumoto.  For many years, I’ve been involved in establishing and amending numerous laws (including the Companies Act, the Banking Act, the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, the Insurance Act, the Insurance Business Act, the Payment Services Act, the Electronically Recorded Monetary Claims Act, and the Act on Specified Joint Real Estate Ventures) and have been involved in creating the Financial Inspection Manual as well as building supervisory and inspection structures for use by the FSA and other supervisory authorities.  I intend to earnestly work with attorneys at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto to determine how those experiences can best be used to serve our clients.  I humbly request the support of my colleagues at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto and look forward to harnessing the firm’s strengths to assist our clients.
