Hiroto Dogauchi joins Mori Hamada & Matsumoto

Message from Mr. Dogauchi

I am honored to join Mori Hamada & Matsumoto in April this year as a Special Counsel.

I have been engaged in research and education in the area of civil law for a total of 38 years at the University of Tsukuba, Kobe University, and the University of Tokyo. I started my research in the area of law of secured transactions (tanpo-bukken ho), however I never particularly thought that it would be my only area of specialization, and my research field extended to other areas of civil law. Early on in my career I also developed an interest in trust law, and have worked in that field as a researcher and lecturer. In pursuing my studies of civil law and trust law I have always strived to maintain a broad perspective and an awareness of their relationship with other legal systems.

Upon turning 60, I left the University of Tokyo and transferred to Senshu University’s Law School, and registered as an attorney. In the next stage of my career I am looking forward to exploring ways to contribute to society while serving as a bridge between practical law and academia. I look forward to assisting you in the near future.
