Message from Mr. Mitsuru Igarashi

I am honored to be joining Mori Hamada & Matsumoto.

After qualifying as an attorney in 2011, I joined Takai Okazeri Law Firm. During the nine years I was with that firm I acquired considerable professional expertise working on labor matters involving Japan and China. I served as the chief representative of that firm’s Beijing and Shanghai offices from 2015 for five years, where I worked at the forefront of Chinese labor matters to address corporate issues head-on.

In recent years, China has also experienced strong demand for labor compliance concerning issues such as harassment and overwork. However, China’s legal system is quite different from that of Japan, and there are many provisions and interpretations of laws that are unfamiliar to Japanese companies, so it is not easy to grasp a correct understanding of them.

As a lawyer who focuses on labor legal matters in Japan and China, I will continue to leverage the experience I have gained to date, while striving to further develop not only as a professional, but also as a person, so that clients will look to me as the preeminent choice when seeking legal advice. In addition, I look forward to doing my utmost to contributing, even if only in a small way, to the development of labor law in both Japan and China.
