Yuhsuan Cheng joins Mori Hamada & Matsumoto

Message from Ms. Yuhsuan Cheng

I am honored to be joining Mori Hamada & Matsumoto.

After being admitted to the Taiwanese bar in 2013, I worked as an in-house counsel at a solar company, where I got to know the renewable energy market as well as international transaction practice. In 2015, I began pursuing my first LLM in UC Berkeley, where I focused my studies on intellectual property law. In 2017, I joined PwC Legal Taiwan and gained hands-on experience on commercial law matters such as listing applications. Back then, I was also involved in projects advising clients on complying personal information protection laws. Next I joined a boutique firm in Taipei where I mainly handled matters related to intellectual property issues (e.g., patent, trademark prosecution/litigations and copyright litigations, both domestically and internationally). I have experience filing patents in 16 countries. I had been representing a huge Japanese video game company in enforcing its trademark rights in Taiwan, and every lawsuit has been ruled in favor of the client. Last March, I decided to come to Japan to study my second LLM in intellectual property law. Through the intensive one-year Japanese program I have reached my goal as not only being equipped with the knowledge related to Japanese IP law, but also being able to advice clients on legal matters in Japanese language.

I look very much forward to leveraging my language skills and legal knowledge at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, and will strive to serve the best interest of our clients.
