On August 3, 2022, seven of the firm’s lawyers, Kotaro Motoshima, Misato Kobayashi, Masumi Sato, Akifumi Suzuki, Yuichiro Ishida, Yuta Kawasaki, and Takuma Mori conducted the “Watashi no Mirai (My Future) Program – Lectures by Financing Firms and Lawyers – ‘Learn Together about Money and Law!’” through which they, together with representatives from “Watashi no Mirai” (a general incorporated association) and J.P. Morgan, provided law-related education mainly to senior high school students who live in children’s homes.

This year, the program was conducted in a hybrid format allowing participation both in person and online, and covered legal issues concerning the age of adulthood in relation to the amendment to the Civil Code that provides for lowering the age of adulthood in Japan to 18.
The attorneys presented information about familiar legal issues, such as those related to contracts, leasing and renting accommodation, and consumer-related trouble, in a quiz-based format and worked with the students and workers at the facilities to deepen their understanding of these issues.
Lively discussions regarding the aforementioned legal issues were held with each group both in person and online.
The students conveyed that they were able to develop a deeper understanding through the discussions and wanted to study law more in the future.
