Yoichiro Ito joined Mori Hamada & Matsumoto as of September 5, 2022 in the role of executive advisor. Prior to joining the firm Mr. Ito served as Managing Director of the Investment Banking Division at Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, Co., Ltd.

After starting his career as an attorney in 1997, Mr. Ito joined Morgan Stanley (Tokyo Branch) (now Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co., Ltd.) in 2001, where he served in various roles within the Investment Banking Division until his retirement in April this year, including serving as a financial advisor on domestic and international M&A and capital markets transactions. Mr. Ito was also involved in the management of the Investment Banking Division and Financial Institutions Group since 2010, in his capacity as Managing Director of the Investment Banking Division and Co-Head of the Financial Institutions Group.

Mori Hamada & Matsumoto will endeavor to further improve the firm’s operations and legal services by utilizing Mr. Ito’s extensive knowledge and networks in Japan and abroad.

I am honored to be joining Mori Hamada & Matsumoto as an executive advisor.

Over the past two decades in my career as an investment banker I have had the opportunity to observe the activities of law firms and the indispensable role they play in supporting corporate activities. During this period, law firms have undergone a dynamic transformation in various aspects, including the quality and scope of services, in response to structural changes in society and corporate activities.
As corporate activities become even more complex and fast-paced, I imagine that in the future there will be an even greater need for delicate judgments. With that in mind, I look forward to doing my utmost as an executive advisor at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto to ensure that the firm meets the expectations of as many clients as possible and makes an even greater contribution to society.
