Chiho Zen joins Mori Hamada & Matsumoto

Message from Ms. Chiho Zen

I am honored to be joining Mori Hamada & Matsumoto.

After being admitted to the Japanese bar in 2013, I worked at a Japanese law firm, where I was primarily involved in providing legal support to Japanese financial institutions for offshore fund investments, and then went on to work at a strategic consulting firm, where I acquired in-depth insights into business matters. Afterwards, I joined Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in 2016 and subsequently joined Withersworldwide. At both firms, I worked on various matters related to establishing investment funds and financial regulations.  With respect to the establishment of investment funds, I advised on the establishment of investment limited partnerships (LPS) and provided support as a Japanese lawyer for establishing offshore funds; and with respect to financial regulations, I mainly handled matters related to financial regulations (solicitation regulations, insider trading regulations, market manipulation regulations, short selling regulations, and inward direct investment regulations, etc.) concerning capital raising and equity trading in Japan by domestic and offshore funds and investment management companies, and handling of regulatory compliance matters (financial instruments business registration and various filings and reporting, etc.) .

At Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, I look forward to leveraging my experience to date, and will strive to further develop my professional expertise to provide insightful legal advice to support our clients.
