Unfair Trading (Insider Trading, etc.)
We have abundant expertise and experience dealing with unfair trading cases, including insider trading and market manipulation, which enables us to provide extensive support to our clients, whether on the side of the issuer or in defending those accused.
Cases of insider trading and market manipulation continue to show no signs of abating, and in many cases charges are levied even when the transaction amount involved is very small. These cases may be discovered by the company itself, including through voluntary admission by the offender, or as a result of an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission, which may require unexpected and immediate attention. It is not uncommon for the company or the accused to have insufficient knowledge and experience to take appropriate action.
Our firm has practical experience handling many insider trading and market manipulation cases, and that experience is enhanced by having a number attorneys with work experience at the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission. We are able to provide comprehensive support to our clients in handling investigations by the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission, conducting fact-finding efforts, determining internal disciplinary action to be taken against offenders, reviewing internal rules, and establishing effective structures to prevent the occurrence of unfair trading.
